Hands-on learning experience for students

02nd Jun 2026

Years 3-6 primary students from Guyra Central School have had an extraordinary opportunity to immerse themselves in World War I history during a special library session.
The students were able to see and try on an impressive collection of World War I memorabilia and artefacts, including both original pieces and meticulously crafted replicas.
This unique collection was generously provided by the National War Memorial in Canberra, bringing a tangible connection to the past for our young learners. The hands-on session captivated the students, sparking curiosity and enthusiasm as they discovered the stories and significance behind each item.
This experience brought history to life for the students, deepening their understanding of the sacrifices and realities of World War I in a powerful and memorable way.
The school extends thanks to the National War Memorial for their generous support in facilitating this inspiring educational event and look forward to hosting more opportunities that engage students with history and enrich their learning experience.
