Thank you for your support Guyra community – 2025 Snow Ball

12th Aug 2025

The Guyra and Community Progress Association would like to extend our heartfelt thankyou to the local Community for your understanding following the cancellation of our recent Snow Ball. Unfortunately, due to our contractors being prebooked for other events, we are unable to reschedule at short notice.
Making the difficult decision to cancel something we had all looked forward to was not easy. With the caterer’s team and so many ticket holders cut off due to road closures and hazardous driving conditions, the safety of our community was our main priority.
Who would have thought that an unprecedented snow event would cancel the Snow Ball!
On behalf of our team, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude and sincerely thank the dedicated volunteers, Craig, Kay, Candice, Lynda, Denise, Jasmine, Rodney, Caroline and Donna who worked tirelessly to transform the hall into a spectacular high-end event for Guyra.
Craig thank you for your physical labour and working three full days assisting the lighting contractor. Denise thank you for your work behind the scenes with ticket sales, table allocations, the donation of flowers and spending days and late nights/early mornings preparing the arrangements. Denise has also generously donated the floral arrangements to Guyra Hospital/Aged Care and Kolora Aged Care. Our Snow Ball Project Leader, Donna who dedicated hundreds of hours of laborious work behind the scenes and worked tirelessly on the weekend, thank you. Nic for providing your expertise behind the scenes.
And where would we be without our Sponsors who have stood by us, giving so generously for this event. The Sponsors contributions and the Progress Association’s previous money raised have enabled us to pay our contractors for works that had been completed prior to the cancellation – thank you;

Continued thanks are extended to Kay Smith Artist, Mick and Amy Wilson, Ramage Engineering, Dasha’s Home Hardware and Donna Davidson for the donation of Auction items. Our next meeting discussion will include the how/where/when this fundraising will take place, so stay tuned!
Guyra community, your willingness to adapt have reminded us of the strength and resilience of our community. We sincerely appreciate your understanding with which you received our announcement.
Though we are disappointed that we could not gather as planned, we are extremely grateful that the overwhelming positive from this experience is this magical Snow event has brought excitement to the community, provided our local businesses with an influx of trade and visitors to our town.
Guyra has certainly been ‘put on the map’ as a destination town!
Your continued support inspires us with future opportunities as we move forward creating experiences and delivering beautification projects for Guyra. We also look forward to continuing to build on our achievements with Armidale Regional Council and the community.
New members are warmly welcomed to attend our first meeting free, and we are very excited to have recently welcomed new members to our team. So, if volunteering for a proactive community group interests you, please join us at our next meeting - Guyra Bowling Club on 21st August at 5.30pm. Our AGM has been scheduled for 18th September 2025.
Once again, thank you for being understanding and for standing by us. Your encouragement makes all the difference.
